In 2005 PayPal had a website that didn't tailor its content to different audiences. It was a one size fits all solution for both consumers and merchants. An ambitious product manager approached the user experience and design team with the challenge to redesign the section of the site focused on Merchants, their questions and PayPal's various types of accounts.

The Founder of Splinters Baseball Academy, Josh Eaton, approached me to see if I could help him get the word out about his program and its goals in the community. At the time he was only running the program part time and he really wanted to step things up. His primary means of telling people about what Splinters was all about was through traditional print brochures and flyers. I knew Josh had no budget to build a website but I knew he needed to build a presence online.

The product marketing manager for the NBX line of products had just finalized and approved designs for a direct mailer that promoted the new NBX product line. A microsite was needed because the mailer promised recipients the could find more information online. The emphasis of the whole campaign was on cost savings to the customer. They also wanted a way for customers to request more information without having to call an 800# so a form was integrated to collect their contact info.

I've worked with Alan directly on each project, whether its been a magazine ad placement, dvd labels, the tradeshow booth design, postcards, or posters you see here. Each project has been about creating and re-enforcing the brand through color and messaging. The audience for his program is both parent's of adolescents as well as educators.

Polycom's creative services department contacted me to help develop an animated holiday card that could be sent to employees via email. The message was intentionally kept simple and I worked directly with their content manager and senior visual designer to review my designs before finalizing on the snowglobe. It was important to keep with the Polycom brand guidelines and borrowing from their color palette as well as not use any religious symbols since the email was being sent internationally. Once the creative was finalized I animated and localized the piece into 15 different languages with the aid of a translation service.

PayPal employee shuttle

PayPal was going to start a daily shuttle service that would run from San Francisco to the San Jose campus. The property and facilities manager wanted my help in designing graphics that could be applied to the shuttles.

My solution was to shoot for the moon and wrap the entire shuttle to work on multiple levels. It would be a moving billboard, marketing PayPal's brand to everyone on the street around the vehicle. It would also be very easy to spot at the train station among the handful of other employee shuttles. Thirdly it would give employees a sense that they worked for a fun, relevant and witty company.

Fresh Express brochure

Fresh Express wanted a print piece they could use in supermarkets to give consumers information about their bagged salad technology and the company's history.

I designed a full color tri-fold brochure to help explain the features of the Keep-Crisp bag, and how it helped to keep salads fresh longer.

Consumers could learn tips on how to keep their salads fresh longer as well as ideas for making meals out of salads and other salad products in the bagged salad line.
